Cheap Throwback AC Milan FC Jerseys

Franck Kessie said a new work ethic under Gennaro Gattuso is the key to AC Milan’s recent surge in form as he claimed predecessor Vincenzo Montella did not make them work hard enough.

Milan have moved to within seven points of fourth-placed Inter Milan, whom they meet in the Derby della Madonnina next weekend, off the back of an 11-game unbeaten streak in all competitions that includes six wins and seven clean sheets.

Montella was sacked in November, although Milan were in the same position in the table as they are now. Nevertheless, Kessie believes Milan are finally going places under Gattuso.

“He’s making us work harder,” Kessie told Mediaset. “With Montella, we were not working much, but it’s different with Gattuso. Things have changed now and you can see the results on the field.

“We’ve got the same players in the dressing room as before. The difference now is that we’re working more. It’s like being part of a family here and the results are finally arriving.”

Gattuso’s first game in charge was a 2-2 draw at Benevento, who picked up their first point in Serie A after a league-record 14 straight defeats with a last-minute goal by goalkeeper Alberto Brignoli.

Milan then beat Bologna before losing to Hellas Verona and Atalanta and drawing at Fiorentina, which left them 11th with a deficit of 14 points on fourth-placed Roma.

But that gap has been cut to just six points in the past seven games with Milan’s fading hopes of qualifying for any European competition now revived and even a challenge for the Champions League starting to look possible.

After hosting Inter next Sunday, Milan travel to Genoa and host Chievo Verona before a trip to Juventus on March 31.

Cheap Throwback Arsenal FC Jerseys

Arsenal goalkeepers Petr Cech and David Ospina

Arsene Wenger has confirmed David Ospina will start in Sunday’s Carabao Cup final over number one Petr Cech, and has paved the way for the Colombian to feature throughout their Europa League campaign.

Ospina captained the Gunners to a comfortable 3-0 win over Ostersund last week and will retain his place when the Swedish outfit visit the Emirates Stadium on Thursday.

Cech – the Gunners’ most decorated player with four Premier League titles, five FA Cups, three League Cups, one Champions League and one Europa League – suggested earlier this week that he will sit out Sunday’s final as Ospina lines up against Manchester City.

Ospina has played in all but one round to get Arsenal to the final, with Matt Macey deputising in the narrow extra-time victory over Norwich.

Wenger set clearly defined roles for his keepers this season and, when asked if Ospina would play on Thursday, he replied “yes” before going on to confirm he would then remain in goal for the cup final.

“It’s always a difficult decision but I think they are clear about that,” he said about his goalkeeping selection.

“Since the start of the season, it’s clear. He (Ospina) played in the whole competition. I have two world-class goalkeepers and I decided from the start to have clarity in the games they play. I maintain that.”

Meanwhile, Henrikh Mkhitaryan will start on Thursday as he is ineligible for the cup final, having played for Manchester United earlier in the competition.

Surprisingly, Mesut Ozil played the whole 90 minutes of the opening leg against Ostersund in sub-zero conditions.

He will be absent this time around due to illness, although Wenger believes he will be fine to feature in the final.

“Mesut was sick,” he added.

“Today was his first training session. He was in bed on Monday and Tuesday with sickness. I would certainly have played him but he was sick.

“He will have to work hard and he will not be involved tomorrow. He should be OK for Sunday.”

Cheap Throwback AS Roma FC Jerseys

Liverpool have been told goalkeeper Alisson should cost ‘far more’ than £45million – because he is the ‘Lionel Messi of goalkeepers’.

The Roma stopper is one of a number under consideration by Jurgen Klopp for the summer, as he contemplates strengthening his options between the sticks.

The Brazilian has been in superb form for the Serie A side this season, and is also reportedly attracting attention from Real Madrid and Paris St-Germain.

There have been suggestions he would cost between £40million and £45million, but former Roma goalkeeping coach Roberto Negrisolo – who helped bring the 25-year-old to Italy from Internacional – thinks he is worth far more, drawing comparisons with Messi.

“Is Alisson worth €50million (£45m)? Don’t be silly, he’s worth far more than that,” Negrisolo told Il Romanista.

“I don’t think many people have realised who Alisson is. This guy is a phenomenon. He is the number one of number ones. He is the Messi of goalkeepers, because he has the same mentality as Messi. He is a goalkeeper who can mark an era.

“There is absolutely no comparison with Gianluigi Donnarumma, because Alisson is extraordinary.

“The way he behaves in the goal, he reminds me of Dino Zoff. I’d also compare him to Michel Preud-Homme, who had the class of someone born to be a goalkeeper.”

Alisson moved to the Italian capital in 2016, but served as only their Europa League goalkeeper in his debut campaign.

But after Wojciech Szczesny moved to Juventus in the summer, Alisson was promoted to first-choice goalkeeper, and has caught the eye with some splendid performances as Roma look to secure Champions League qualification.

And Negrisolo has given insight into why he has taken Serie A by storm – and how he would be a decade-long investment for any potential suitors.

“I told Alisson when I met him at Roma’s Trigoria ground that he was born for this,” he added. “He was already strong when he arrived, but has improved even more since he has been in Italy, especially when coming out low to get the ball. Now he is far more decisive in those situations.

“I know goalkeepers, that is my business, and I can assure you Alisson can be a guarantee for at least another 10 years. He’s already a hero to the fans and Roma need to keep hold of him.

“Alisson is crucial off the field too, as you can see he has the mind of a coach. Look at the way he moves and acts when the ball is in his hands and you’ll understand.”

Atletico Madrid are the latest club to declare an interest in Aleix Vidal as interest in the Barcelona full-back continues to mount, despite failing to earn a move away in January.

Vidal was expected to complete a loan move to Sevilla in the January transfer window, but the Andalusian club were unwilling to meet Barcelona’s demands of €12m up front and a guarantee of a permanent summer move. Now it seems that Atletico have jumped up the queue to sign Vidal, according to Diario Sport (via Football Espana).

It was assumed that Vidal would welcome a move away from the Nou Camp, having spent most of the season struggling for first-team opportunities. His only goal of the season came in Barcelona’s 3-0 Clasico win at the Bernabeu in December.

But Vidal, who has made 44 appearances for Barcelona since joining from Sevilla in 2015, has stressed that he is happy at the club and is willing to stay and fight for his place.

“At no moment did I think about leaving,” Vidal told the Sport newspaper. “I’m fine here. There were lots of chances to go to various clubs, but I am here because the club made an effort to keep me.”

Roma and Napoli were also thought to be interested in signing Vidal in January, but a move to another Spanish club seems like the most likely destination. Vidal says that he still has faith in his own abilities, despite being a peripheral figure under Ernesto Valverde.

“I’ve had confidence since I arrived here,” said the 28-year-old. “I give all I can day to day and if the coach is happy then great. You have to keep working, there’s no alternative. Back yourself and don’t listen to what the people say.”

Barcelona lead Atletico by 11 points at the top of La Liga, and make the short trip to Espanyol on Sunday.

Chelsea have completed the signing of Emerson Palmieri from Roma.

Emerson jetted in for a medical with the Premier League champions on Tuesday evening after agreeing terms over a £25million transfer move to Stamford Bridge.

The Blues were also keen on landing Emerson’s team-mate, Edin Dzeko, but Antonio Conte confirmed that a move for the Bosnian striker had collapsed over his high wage demands.

Chelsea have been on the hunt for defensive reinforcements this January as Conte looks to find competition for Marcos Alonso at left-back.

It appears Emerson has been handed the No.33 shirt at Chelsea most recently worn by Mitchell Beeney, Tomas Kalas and Alex.

Arsenal star Olivier Giroud is expected to complete a move to Stamford Bridge in an £18million move before the January transfer window slams shut.

Asked about Chelsea’s move for Emerson on Tuesday, Conte said: ‘If you remember, I said that in case the club decides to send Kenedy on loan, then we have two options: to buy another player or to work with the young players like [Dujon] Sterling.

‘He’s a young player but a very good prospect. I don’t know [about Emerson’s move], I don’t know. If there is news the club will inform you of any new players.’

Pressed again on whether he had seen much of Emerson, Conte continued: ‘I don’t remember Palmieri because he played in Italy only last season.

‘Last season he had an important season for Roma, then he had a bad injury, broke his ligament, now he’s recovering.

In a week where Manchester City sealed a place in the Carabao Cup final and came back fighting in the Premier League, there many things which caught our eye, here are our top picks…
Guardiola throwback

First up, we loved La Liga’s recent throwback featuring our boss, Pep Guardiola. The La Liga account posted a video of Pep in action back in 1999 at the Benito Villamarín for Barcelona.

What a blast from the past!

InSANÉ

Next, we take a closer look at Leroy Sane’s incredible assist during our 3-1 win against Newcastle as Planet Football have done an in-depth analysis of his performance.

The article said: “What caught the eye more on Saturday was the assist for the clinching third goal, which was all Leroy Sané’s doing.

“It is thanks to Sané, and to a re-energised Raheem Sterling on the opposite wing, that Manchester City have been either able – or required, depending on your viewpoint – to utilise David Silva’s talents in a deeper role this season.

“The impressive form of both Silva and Kevin De Bruyne has allowed the German to do his best work out wide, regularly ghosting in behind the defensive line and either scoring himself or laying on chances for the likes of Agüero and Gabriel Jesus.

“He has been involved in 17 Premier League goals this season (10 assists to go with seven strikes of his own), more than all but four players, and has chipped in with three more goals and assists apiece in the cups, too.

“Some of the assists owe a fair bit to others, such as the ball across for Sterling against Stoke after gathering an otherworldly De Bruyne ball, but this one was all Sané.”

The report continued to analyse each of Sane’s movements during the incredible run… It really was inSANÉ.

Nikita’s challenge

A majority of our women’s first team have been away with their countries over the past week, and one feature caught our eye.

England striker Nikita Parris went head-to-head with Chelsea’s Karen Carney for BBC Sport in the build-up to this year’s FA People’s Cup.

Our striker took on a number of tasks including the penalty, crossbar and showboat challenges – oh, and let’s not forget her very elaborate celebration including cartwheels and crawling – definitely a must watch…

We can’t wait for Nikita’s next City celebration!
Shirt swap

One of our favourite tweets of the week came from Bristol City defender Aden Flint, following Tuesday’s Carabao Cup semi-final, second leg.

Flint revealed on his Twitter that he asked Pep Guardiola if he wanted to swap his Stone Island jacket for his Bristol jersey after the match… the defender said that he declined!

If you don’t ask, you never know!

OtaMENDY

We all know that Benjamin Mendy is the king if Snapchat and Instagram stories… but one of our players is rivalling him for the crown!

Nicolas Otamendi videoed team mate Zinchenko tucking into his lunch at the CFA…

Cities unite

Finally, our favourite thing from the past week has to be the gift provided by the Blues to the people of Barcelona, which Mayor of Manchester Andy Burnham presented to Barcelona’s Mayor Ada Colau.

The gift was a bee connecting Manchester and Barcelona together – symbolising solidarity between the two cities. A really lovely touch.

Cheap Throwback FC Bayern Munich Jerseys

The Colombian playmaker has spent this season on loan at Bayern Munich after falling out of favour at Real Madrid.

But the no.10 has responded with a number of good performances, alerting Liverpool to a possible transfer.

Boss Jurgen Klopp is believed to have sounded out James over a possible move to Anfield.

And this could mean that James would be bringing his stunning rumoured girlfriend, Helga Lovekaty.

The pair are believed to have been introduced by none other than Cristiano Ronaldo at a party.

James is believed to have been in contact with the stunning Russian model ever since.

It is believed he first noticed Helga through her stunning social media snaps, along with her 3.9million followers.

The busty Helga posts raunchy snaps on Instagram to the delight of her fans.

Cheap Throwback FC Borussia Dortmund Jerseys

While Borussia Dortmund actively claim to be one European football’s most creative and crazy supporters, they were well and truly given a run for their money by their German Cup opposition Magdeburg.

Dortmund, who are flying high at the top of the Bundesliga, went into their clash with the German third-tier side on Tuesday night having missed out on the FIFA Best Supporters award to Celtic on Monday.

And while Celtic claim the prize for 2017, Magdeburg could have given both a run for their money.

Ahead of Dortmund’s 5-0 thrashing at the hands of the Bundesliga giants, the home side unveiled a quite remarkable and Dortmund-esque crowd display, in reference to ‘Jigsaw’, a famed character from the Saw movie franchise.

Despite the considerable margin, Magdeburg held the own for the most-part of the first half, only to finally be broken down by Peter Bosz’s side on 42 minutes, courtesy of substitute Gonzalo Castro, who was assisted by 18-year-old Alexander Isak.

Isak, making his debut, the youngster certainly made an impression as he extended the lead shortly after the break, slotting in from the left of the box with great composure.

Two quick-fire goals with 15 minutes to go by Andriy Yarmalenko and Marc Bartra extended the onslaught, before Shinji Kagawa left his mark on the game in stoppage time.

But while the second half was pretty horrifying for the home support, their display in the pre-game will leave a scar on their visitors as Halloween approaches, and would have given John Kramer himself to his knees.

It was a display the ‘Yellow Wall’ would have been impressed by, and possibly inspired by, having made a name for themselves as the crowd display experts over the years, with their 2013 champions league banner unveiled against Malaga.
Crowd banners are now a growing phenomenon in football with ‘This is Russia’ presented by the international supporters in 2012 a memorable one, swiftly followed by Croatia’s ‘Hell-fire’ display a year later.

Inspiration was a plenty for the Magdeburg faithful but if the banner itself wasn’t enough to spook their visitors, the narrative was.

For the German speakers among us, the banner read: ‘You think the game is over, the games have only just begun.’

Cheap Throwback Inter Milan FC Jerseys

Gerard Deulofeu
Gerard Deulofeu

Inter Milan director Piero Ausilio has said the club are keeping tabs on Gerard Deulofeu but are yet to make Barcelona an offer for the winger.

Deulofeu returned to Barca in the summer but has struggled to make much of an impression and his last appearance was way back in November.

Inter are just one of several Serie A clubs linked with a move and Deulofeu could be tempted back to Italy having spent last season at AC Milan.

Inter say they are interested in Deulofeu but he’s not the only player they could move for.

“There have been no formal offers for Deulofeu, but we are paying attention to the situation.

“If there are the conditions to try something, we know the characteristics we are looking for. Deulofeu could be the right profile, but he isn’t the only one.”

Deulofeu struggled to even make the squad before Christmas and the return to fitness of Ousmane Dembele may hurt his chances further.

It’s also not entirely clear if Barcelona can sell Deulofeu yet. Speaking in 2015 then-Everton manager Roberto Martinez suggested that if Barcelona exercised their buy-back clause they can’t sell him for a season.

It remains to be seen if that remains the case, but if so, it would suggest Deulofeu could only leave on loan in January.

Cheap Throwback Juventus FC Jerseys

Stefano Sturaro of Juventus
Stefano Sturaro of Juventus

Stefano Sturaro’s agent has hinted that his client may leave Juventus in the January transfer window.

Newcastle United were linked with the central midfielder in the summer transfer window with the club playing down the reports as Juventus slapped a €20m asking price on him.

But in November Sturaro’s agent claimed that Newcastle and Everton were interested in his player and could come back in again in January. Everton have since switched managers, however.

Manager Rafa Benitez is known to want quality additions in January to help the club move away from the relegation scrap they currently find themselves in.

And if Sturaro really is a target, his agents latest comments will offer hope that he may be more receptive to a move next month.

The Italian’s agent Carlo Volpi told Tribal Football: “Juventus have a team strong enough to be highly competitive for Serie A, Coppa Italia and Champions League.

“Stefano has already played both in CL and in Serie A this year and he wants to train even harder in order to be ready when his moment comes.

“Juventus also have such midfielders as Matuidi, Marchisio and Khedira: they all are around 30 years old and incredibly talented and charismatic.

“There are clubs from the Premier [League] which made clear they are interested in Stefano, it would be unfair to name them but the news is coming out. January is imminent.

“But there are many important games to play and Stefano is highly focused on his role in the team.”

The 24-year-old chose to stay at Juventus despite interest in him in the summer.

Since then though, he’s made just seven appearances for the Serie A outfit, with only one of those being a league start.

His agent’s comments suggest he may look to leave in January, either permanently or on loan.

Stefano has been capped four times by Italy, although he won’t be hoping for games with next summer’s World Cup in mind as Italy failed to qualify.
