In a week where Manchester City sealed a place in the Carabao Cup final and came back fighting in the Premier League, there many things which caught our eye, here are our top picks…
First up, we loved La Liga’s recent throwback featuring our boss, Pep Guardiola. The La Liga account posted a video of Pep in action back in 1999 at the Benito Villamarín for Barcelona.
What a blast from the past!
Next, we take a closer look at Leroy Sane’s incredible assist during our 3-1 win against Newcastle as Planet Football have done an in-depth analysis of his performance.
The article said: “What caught the eye more on Saturday was the assist for the clinching third goal, which was all Leroy Sané’s doing.
“It is thanks to Sané, and to a re-energised Raheem Sterling on the opposite wing, that Manchester City have been either able – or required, depending on your viewpoint – to utilise David Silva’s talents in a deeper role this season.
“The impressive form of both Silva and Kevin De Bruyne has allowed the German to do his best work out wide, regularly ghosting in behind the defensive line and either scoring himself or laying on chances for the likes of Agüero and Gabriel Jesus.
“He has been involved in 17 Premier League goals this season (10 assists to go with seven strikes of his own), more than all but four players, and has chipped in with three more goals and assists apiece in the cups, too.
“Some of the assists owe a fair bit to others, such as the ball across for Sterling against Stoke after gathering an otherworldly De Bruyne ball, but this one was all Sané.”
The report continued to analyse each of Sane’s movements during the incredible run… It really was inSANÉ.
A majority of our women’s first team have been away with their countries over the past week, and one feature caught our eye.
England striker Nikita Parris went head-to-head with Chelsea’s Karen Carney for BBC Sport in the build-up to this year’s FA People’s Cup.
Our striker took on a number of tasks including the penalty, crossbar and showboat challenges – oh, and let’s not forget her very elaborate celebration including cartwheels and crawling – definitely a must watch…
We can’t wait for Nikita’s next City celebration!
One of our favourite tweets of the week came from Bristol City defender Aden Flint, following Tuesday’s Carabao Cup semi-final, second leg.
Flint revealed on his Twitter that he asked Pep Guardiola if he wanted to swap his Stone Island jacket for his Bristol jersey after the match… the defender said that he declined!
If you don’t ask, you never know!
We all know that Benjamin Mendy is the king if Snapchat and Instagram stories… but one of our players is rivalling him for the crown!
Nicolas Otamendi videoed team mate Zinchenko tucking into his lunch at the CFA…
Finally, our favourite thing from the past week has to be the gift provided by the Blues to the people of Barcelona, which Mayor of Manchester Andy Burnham presented to Barcelona’s Mayor Ada Colau.
The gift was a bee connecting Manchester and Barcelona together – symbolising solidarity between the two cities. A really lovely touch.
